Blog Archives - St. Joseph's Pelandok Scout Unit

Hi Guys,

As announced before, fall-in tomorrow will be at 1500hrs. We will be keeping to this timing in spite of the optional phototaking that is also scheduled for 1500hrs. However, if you feel the need to be present for the phototaking, you are expected to fall back in 5 minutes after it ends, regardless of whatever attire you are in.

Do not keep the Unit waiting.

Yours in Scouting,
Andre

Hello guys,

Please note that if you are attending a Campfire on Saturday, you will not need to wear your full uniform on Friday. Instead, you will wear your PE Attire. You will need to provide your signed consent form for the Campfire you're going to, to excuse yourself from wearing your full uniform.

On a separate note, all scouts are reminded to give their jobweek cards to their PL by this Friday. There is really no other deadline, this friday is the last, last deadline you're given.

May the odds be ever in your favour.

Tayloristically,
Daniel Tow.

Hi Guys,

This is the agenda for this Friday:

Date: 30 March 2012
Time: 1500hrs - 1830hrs
Attire: Full Scout Uniform and PE attire (Sec 1s: PE)
Duty Patrol: Dolphin patrol

1430-1500: General Fall-in
1500-1730: AP Training/Store Cleaning
1730-1800: Physical Training
1800-1830: General Fall-out

Attire for Secondary 1s is PE. This is a reminder that Sec 1s are not to wear the Scout Uniform until they are invested.

Due the bad weather last week, we will be continuing with store cleaning this week. All those who have expressed interest in being part of the AP Contingent, please make sure you hydrate yourself and have a heavier lunch before coming down for training.

Also, if you have not handed up your jobweek cards to your respective PLs yet, the deadline is this Friday

Yours in Scouting,
Andre

Hello everyone,

There is no training next week on the 16th of March 2012. (You don't say?) Anyway, there are a few announcements to be made.

Earth Day Participation
These are the relevant details:
Date: 31 March 2012
Venue: Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, Orchard Road
Dress Code: Earth Hour T-Shirt (provided by them) and National Scarf
Eligibility: Secondary Twos to Secondary Fours
Duties: Crowd Control/Ushering/Mending of Booths

Every unit is allowed to only send up to 5 volunteers. Dinner will be provided. A letter of appreciation and a Earth Hour badge will be awarded. Volunteers are required to attend a briefing (date is to be confirmed).

S8 encourages you guys to participate in this event for an enriched experience and a greater exposure to the behaviour of scouts from other units.

Korean Jamboree
This announcement goes out to all scouts who took the Korean Jamboree forms. Find Mr. Kwang and please submit the forms to him on 19th May, Monday.

Jobweek
Everyone should be aware of tomorrow, the first official day of our jobweek. You should all have your 3 jobweek cards. Please keep in mind the pointers shared during the briefing done by Mr. Chong and Mr. Kwang. This is a recap of what to take note of:
1) Always appear sincerely humble - mind your manners and greet.
2) Never do jobweek alone - minimum of 2 scouts, 1 of which is a senior (Secondary Two or older)
3) Attire - Full Scout Uniform is to be worn (without boots), with centenary scarf. Secondary Ones wear PE attire.
If there are any pending questions, please ask your Patrol Leader and he will relay your question to me.

Well, this is it for now. Please feel free to ask your PLs any burning questions you may have. Enjoy the March Holidays! Thanks and God bless.

Tayloristically,
Daniel Tow.

Hi Guys,

As announced by Glen yesterday, there will be a combined activity with SJAB on the 14th of March. The main objectives of this is to:

1) Help SJAB with their fulfilment of several components of their badge schemes.
2) Help us to gain more confidence in camp craft skills.
3) Gain CIP hours for those who need them.

If you have passed your advanced or standard knots tests, you are warmly welcome to offer assistance and help your fellow Josephians and fellow UG members. Remember, this is a chance to show them how Scouts are men for others and helpful!

Those interested may contact Glen: 94888849 or just comment on the tagboard.
